\"\"As technical director, I\u2019ve been working with JPS Concept since 2008 on the installation of power systems for ocean racing yachts – both multihulls and monohulls.<\/p>\n

The 2008 installation of Li-Ion batteries on the trimaran Groupama 3 (which set many new records, including the Troph\u00e9e Jules Verne, M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e, Atlantique and Route du Rhum) solved a complex onboard power problem. We are always looking to identify the most reliable, efficient and lightweight products possible, and these batteries delivered on all those points. The capacity of the batteries themselves and the electronic power management system gave us a significant weight saving, at the same time as much higher reliability than standard gel\/lead acid batteries.<\/p>\n

Since then, we have used the same system – upgraded and made even more reliable by JPS Concept – on the Initiatives Coeur IMOCA 60 Class monohull, with the addition of a Supercapacitor system that allows us to cant the 3,500 kg keel hydraulically from one tack to the other with direct reference to boat speed.<\/p>\n
